Understanding Your Coverage

It is important to know that Vision Insurance and Medical Insurance serve different purposes:

Vision Insurance: A wellness benefit designed to reduce the cost of routine eye exams, prescription eyeglasses, and contact lenses.

Medical Insurance: Protects you against financial losses due to unexpected eye injuries, infections, or chronic eye diseases.

Use It or Lose It: Most vision benefits expire annually. If you don't use your allotted coverage by the end of your benefit year, those funds typically do not roll over. Whether you need a routine exam, a backup pair of glasses, or prescription sunglasses, we recommend booking before your deadline to maximize your investment.

Alberta Health Care Coverage

While there have been recent provincial changes to eye care benefits, Aspen Eye Care remains committed to our most vulnerable populations. We have chosen not to pass on the full impact of these cuts to our seniors and children.

Rest assured: Patients under 19 and those 65+ remain eligible for annual routine eye exams at no out-of-pocket cost.

Updates to Covered Services

To maintain the high standard of medical care Dr. Bandali provides, the following specialized services will now incur a nominal fee for Alberta Health patients:

Advanced Imaging: Additional retinal imaging or visual field testing beyond the first allotted set.

Frequent Visits: A 3rd visit within a single billing cycle (July 1 – June 30) not initiated by the doctor.

Complex Follow-ups: Multiple visits required for specific infections or injuries, depending on your current cycle usage.

Our Promise to You: We will always advise you of any potential charges before beginning a service. Dr. Bandali and our team will continue to do our best to help you navigate these changes and find ways to work around fees whenever possible.

A second pair of eyeglasses (backup or computer glasses)
