focused on eye health
Empower your child to reach every milestone with confidence. From the playground to the classroom, we ensure their visual health supports their natural development and overall well-being.
What We Offer
Did you know that 80% of what a child learns in school is processed through their eyes? When vision problems go undetected, children often struggle with tasks that should be effortless. Sometimes, these visual frustrations can even be mistaken for learning difficulties or ADHD.
At Aspen Eye Care, we believe in early intervention. By identifying vision complications early in life, we can often treat them effectively, paving the way for a smoother academic journey and more confidence on the playground. Our team has the clinical expertise and the heart to care for your little ones, ensuring their sight never holds them back from their highest potential.
It is a common milestone for children to have a vision screening at school or their pediatrician’s office. While these are helpful for spotting basic issues, they are not a substitute for a comprehensive pediatric eye exam.
A screening is like a quick check-up, but our Sherwood Park pediatric optometrists perform a deep-dive into your child’s visual development. We look beyond basic sight to assess how their eyes work together as a team—a crucial factor in reading and sports that standard screenings often miss.

We know that a visit to the doctor can be a big event for a little person. That’s why we use age-appropriate instruments and gentle, specialized techniques that get accurate results—even if your child doesn't know their letters yet!
We take the time to evaluate the building blocks of healthy vision, including:
Eye Tracking & Teaming: Ensuring both eyes move together smoothly for reading.
Depth & Color Perception: Essential for sports and navigating the world.
Focusing Skills: The ability to move vision quickly from the desk to the board.
Near & Distance Acuity: Making sure everything is crisp and clear, up close and far away.
Healthy vision is a journey, not a destination. To stay ahead of your child’s rapid growth, the Alberta Association of Optometrists recommends this gentle schedule:
First Exam: At 6 months of age (their very first "eye birthday").
Preschool Years: At age 3 and again at age 5.
School-Aged: Annually (or every two years if no correction is needed) to keep up with the demands of the classroom.
If your child needs glasses, we make it an exciting experience! Our Sherwood Park optical boutique carries a wide selection of durable, kid-friendly frames. From bright, imaginative colors for little ones to the latest "scaled-down" adult trends for teens, we ensure every patient feels confident in their new look.
Durable & Safe: We prioritize flexible, comfortable materials that can keep up with active kids.
Sports Eyewear: We offer specialized athletic eyewear to protect young eyes during the game they love.
Contact lenses can be a wonderful boost for a teen’s self-esteem or athletic performance.
As Dr. Aleem Bandali explains, "Contacts are a privilege that comes with responsibility. We love seeing young patients succeed with lenses, provided both the parents and the teen are ready for the accountability of care and hygiene."
We’ll work with your family to determine when the time is right.
Our pediatric division is the heart of Aspen Eye Care. We take immense pride in helping the children of Sherwood Park see, perceive, and experience their world to the fullest.
Whether you’re bringing in an infant for their first check-up or a teen for a style refresh, we’re here to support your family for years to come.
